Railpromo was set up in 2013 as a charter train operator, and is especially known for its Dinner Train, which has ceased operating. For the moment, tickets cannot be refunded.

Railpromo also operated charter trains, such as the winter sports train Austria Express linking the Netherlands and Austria which ran in winter 2015-16, as well as trains from the Netherlands to the Sziget festival in Hungary.

Railpromo owns three former Netherlands Railways (NS) class 1700 electric locomotives and three passenger coaches: a former French National Railways (SNCF) Grill-Express restaurant car and two German vehicles. The official receiver will now consider whether a restart is possible. He will also investigate whether both cancelled and planned train journeys can still be operated.
