DALLAS Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has awarded Alstom a $US 216m 10-year contract to provide operations and maintenance services for the Skylink automated peoplemover (APM).

Alstom has provided maintenance support since the APM opened on May 21 2005 and availability has exceeded 99% each year according to Alstom. Pre-pandemic the APM carried more than 20 million passengers annually.

The contract covers preventative and corrective maintenance of the system’s 64 Innovia APM 200 vehicles including the subsystems and related components which comprise switches, power distribution, platform screen doors, public address announcements and station signage as well as the 8km elevated double-track guideway. This includes the running surface, guide beam, third-rail power and related switches, power distribution, guideway heating systems and automatic train control equipment.

The system connects all five terminals at the airport.
