The Flirt trains for ADY will be designed for operation on the 1520mm-gauge network and will meet Russia’s Gost standard. The vehicles will be 3.48m-wide and more than 4.6m-high. The inter-regional trains will feature a bistro and first class seats with electric controls.

The inter-regional DMUs are 106.76m-long and seat 271 passengers. The DMUs are fitted with an additional short PowerPack car, which will hold the four diesel engines and part of the drive equipment.

The inter-regional EMUs are 92.96m-long with seats for 236 passengers, while the 92.96m-long regional EMU will seat 255 passengers along with standing space for short journeys.

ADY ordered 30 sleeping cars from Stadler in 2014 for the Kars - Achalkalaki - Tbilisi - Baku service between Turkey and Azerbaijan. This was followed in 2015 and 2018, when ADY ordered double-deck Kiss trains, which are now in daily service.

Azerbaijan is currently delivering a major programme of infrastructure upgrades, including converting main line electrification from 3kV dc to 25kV ac. The four DMUs will be delivered first so that ADY can continue to operate during the changeover. The first trains will be delivered to ADY in 2022.
