The contract is Euromaint’s first in Norway. Most of the maintenance will be undertaken at a facility currently under construction in Bergen.

The Bergen Railway, which connects Oslo with Bergen, is the highest railway in northern Europe.

VY was awarded a contract in December to operate the Bergen Railway, with a view towards increasing long-distance, regional and local train traffic, and improving regional transport connections and on-board services.

The contract includes the maintenance of:

  • 10 class 75 flirt EMUs
  • seven class EL18 locomotives
  • 10 class 5 coaches
  • 43 class 7 coaches, and
  • six class WLAB2 coaches.

The fleet is owned by Norwegian Railways.

Helsinki

Helsinki City Transport (HKL) has also awarded CAF a contract for five new M300 series metro trains.

The new four-car trains will be similar to the existing M300 trains, increasing the Helsinki Metro fleet from 45 to 50 trains. The 90m-long barrier free trains will have capacity for 575 passengers.

The contract includes spare parts, with the trains due to be delivered from 2022.
