Norway: Flytoget has told IRJ that its eight four-car class 78 CAF Oaris EMU fleet remains out of traffic. The trains were removed from service following the discovery of a crack in the chassis of one of the EMUs less than a month after they entered traffic.
Slovenia: InRail has leased two Siemens Vectron locomotives from ELL for its freight operations. The locomotives will operate in both Slovenia and Italy.
Britain: The first Stadler class 231 DEMU has been moved to Wildenrath for testing. The trains are due to be delivered to Transport for Wales (TfW) Rail for testing before the end of this year.
Sweden: The first of 45 three-car class x80 high-speed Zefiro Express EMUs for Västtrafik has been released from construction at Alstom’s plant at Hennigsdorf, near Berlin, for the first stage of testing. The fleet will enter traffic from 2023 two years later than planned, with Covid-19 the reason for the delay.
Armenia: South Caucasus Railway (SCR) has ordered 27 coaches from Transmashholding (TMH). There will be six type 61-4516 saloon coaches and 21 type 61-4517 sleeping cars equipped with two and four-person compartments.
France: Testing of an Alstom X’Trapolis Cityduplex double-deck EMU is underway to the east of Paris. The trains were ordered in 2017 by Île-de-France Mobility (IDFM) for French National Railways (SNCF)-operated lines D and E of the Paris RER. 71 EMUs have been ordered, with an option for a total of 255. The trains have been tested on the Meaux - Epernay and Châlons-en-Champagne lines. Five pre-series trains have bene built so far. Construction is taking place at Alstom factories across the country.
Britain: Acceptance by Greater Anglia of class 720 EMUs has started again after four months. Ordered from Bombardier (before its acquisition by Alstom), the EMUs are more than a year late into traffic. The latest delay was caused by quality issues.
