The tender has an estimated value of €2.73bn including 15 years’ fleet maintenance, which will be carried out by a joint venture between Renfe and the winning bidder.
The order will comprise 176 100m-long trains, each seating at least 900 passengers, and 35 200m-long sets. The contract will include options for 96 additional 100m-long trains and 24 200m-long trains.
