The contract is for four years with a one-year extension option and covers both preventative and corrective maintenance. The contract covers 78 class 446 suburban trains maintained at Renfe’s Humanes workshop in Madrid, in a joint venture with Actren, and 14 class 470 medium-distance trains maintained at Renfe’s San Andrés Condal workshop in Barcelona.
BTren currently maintains 75 Renfe class 253 Traxx locomotives and three Captrain, Spain, locomotives. BTren also maintains 46 class S102 and S112 and 45 class S130/720 AVE high-speed power cars in a consortium with Talgo.
