TURKISH State Railways (TCDD) has received its 19th and final Velaro high-speed train from Siemens Mobility.

The fleet will be used to connect Ankara with Konya and Eskisehir. The trains will also be used on the additional planned high-speed line from Edirne  to Istanbul.

The 300km/h eight-car trains have been delivered well ahead of schedule according to Mr Albrecht Neumann, CEO rolling stock at Siemens Mobility.

The first Velaro Turkey was ordered in 2013 and went into passenger service between Ankara and Konya in May 2015. At the same time, TCDD signed a second deal with Siemens for six eight-car high-speed trains. The final 12 trains were ordered in 2018 and 2019, with the contract including maintenance, repair and cleaning of the trains for three years.

Each train has three classes: Business, First and Economy, with a total capacity of 519 seats.
