The order, which is in addition to the fleet of 63 LRVs delivered by Alstom between 2003 and 2019, will reinforce services on the existing network, including Line D which runs across the French-German border to Kehl.

The Citadis LRVs to be delivered are 45m-long with capacity for 288 passengers. The vehicles are fitted with LED lighting and all-glass double doors to improve access for passengers with reduced mobility, wider seats and areas for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Design and manufacturing will largely take place at Alstom’s facilities in France, including at La Rochelle, Le Creusot, Tarbes, Villeurbanne and Saint-Ouen, while the bogies situated under the driver cabs will be manufactured at Alstom’s site in Salzgitter, Germany.
