Stadler was awarded a contract in November 2018 to supply 64 Flirt EMUs for the Hannover S-Bahn, after Transdev was awarded a contract to operate the network for a period of 12.5 years starting in December 2021. TSA will supply 256 Flirt 4 traction motors for the fleet, which are due to begin service with the launch of the new operator.

In November 2018, Amsterdam Municipal Transport (GVB) awarded CAF a contract for 30 new M7 three-car metro vehicles, which will be equipped with TSA‘s sound-optimised next-generation traction motors.

TSA says it has improved the energy efficiency of the drives in order to meet the high standards of the contract, in particular the requirements regarding the low weight and ease of maintenance.

The first trains, which are classified as type M7 by GVB, are due to enter service in 2021 and the introduction of the fleet will enable the withdrawal of 1990s-built type M4, S3 and S2 stock in 2024-2027.
