The two new Talgo 250 trains will be identical to the four trains already in service with UTY. Talgo supplied the first two nine-car sets in 2011, and these were followed by two 11-car trains in 2017. The new contract includes four extra coaches to expand the nine-car trains to 11 cars each.

The trains have an output of 4.8MW and are designed to operate on 1520mm-gauge lines electrified at 25kV 50Hz. The air-conditioning is designed to cope with temperatures ranging from -25oC in winter to 40oC in summer.

Each Talgo 250 train has three classes: standard, business and VIP with at-seat catering in all three classes in addition to a buffet car.

The new trains will supplement the existing trains on Afrosiyob services from the capital Taskent, to Samarkand, Qarshi, Bukhara and Jiva.
