CHINA Railway (CR) says 13,187 trains and 1.322 million TEU travelled between China and Europe between January and November 2021, a 23% and 30% respective year-on-year increase. More than 15,000 trains and 1.46 million TEU were expected to make the journey by the end of 2021.

China-Europe Express trains now operate from 89 Chinese cities, serving 175 cities in 23 European countries.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of China National Railway Group and member units of the committee, China-Europe trains have achieved new development and breakthroughs in terms of number of lines, quality of lines, channel construction, service guarantees, and international cooperation,” the railway says, adding that the performance of the service has improved even as the global economy has slowed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
