Under the direction of the Board and working closely with various Government partners, you will oversee operations and spearhead transformative business plans that clearly define priorities, leverage financial resources and identify new innovative partnerships and revenue generating opportunities. Your enthusiasm and drive will inspire your team and all stakeholders to rally behind VIA Rail’s strategic direction.
You bring a combination of education and senior executive experience leading within a large, complex, unionized and regulated organization. You are known for working closely with your Board, developing high performing workforces and creating a culture of teamwork and customer focus to grow revenue. Your knowledge of the Canadian business, political, governmental, and regulatory environments and frameworks will enhance your ability to build consensus and further leverage your relationships while identifying different business approaches to traditional roles. Your understanding of the transportation industry, combined with your sound business and operational acumen, will enable you to align human and financial resources to convert corporate vision into a successful action plan. Your superior interpersonal and communication skills allow you to act effortlessly as VIA Rail’s ambassador and spokesperson with diverse stakeholders, including governments, media, industry, and others. Proficiency in both official languages would be preferred.
