Westbahn reaches Vienna Main Station Erwin Reidinger

AUSTRIAN open-access operator Westbahn began serving Vienna Main Station on June 14 after gaining certification for its new fleet of Stadler Kiss 2 EMUs.

After several delays, authorisation documents for the fleet finally arrived on June 12 and the first three trains were commissioned the following day.

Westbahn is operating six return WestShuttle services per day between Vienna Main Station and West Station, where they connect with the operator’s trains to Salzburg.

Westbahn is offering special discount fares from Vienna to destinations between St Pölten and Salzburg, which can only be purchased onboard the shuttle trains.

The shuttle service will operate until December 9, when Westbahn will launch direct trains from Vienna Main Station to Salzburg.
