A bypass will be built in Ebenfurth, removing the need for Vienna - Wulkaprodersdorf services to reverse which will save time. A new passing loop will also be built at Gols on the Neusiedl/See - Pamhagen line, enabling a half-hourly service.

Another project is the modernisation of the Wiener Neustadt - Sopron line, although it is unclear if this involves electrification or is just an infrastructure upgrade to allow the operation of battery-powered trains in future.

Burgenland is also developing plans for two new stations with large car parks for commuters. One should be located between Müllendorf and Wulkaprodersdorf, close to the regional capital of Eisenstadt, with the other located near Jennersdorf on the line to Graz.

Planning for these stations is only in the preliminary stage and changes may occur, with no timeline set for the project.
