The framework agreement to design, manufacture, deliver, obtain approval and commission up to 20 rescue trains will include a fixed call for five trains, with an option to maintain the trains for 13 years.

Rail Equipment will assess bids according to the technology deployed with a weighting of 15 points, the purchase price (weighting 80 points) and the maintenance cost (weighting five points).

The deadline for bids is May 22. The contract will run from September 1 until August 30 2024 with an option for a six-year extension.
