The 340 Dobain HSH rail steel is designed for use on lines which operate at high frequency with heavy traffic, with limited windows for maintenance.
The steel’s strength comes from its unique microstructure, formed through a proprietary treatment during the rolling process, which minimises the formation of weaknesses in the surface of the rail and results in a microstructure-related polishing effect. This results in lower life cycle costs and a longer service life, as well as significantly reducing the frequency needed for head checks and the disruption caused by track maintenance.
