ČD Cargo has signed a €45m contract with Alstom for the supply of 12 more Traxx MS3 multi-voltage locomotives, to be operated by its subsidies ČD Cargo Poland and ČD Cargo Slovakia.

The locomotives can operate under four different voltages, and will be fitted with Alstom Atlas ETCS Level 2 Baseline 3 onboard equipment. The locomotives are scheduled for delivery from mid-2026 and will expand ČD Cargo’s fleet of Traxx MS3 locomotives to 49.

“The signing of the contract for the delivery of additional locomotives will enable us to further expand into foreign markets where ČD Cargo continues to grow its market share,” says ČD Cargo board chairman, Mr Tomás Tóth. “Last year we transported more than 10 million tonnes of freight abroad.”
