The contract will cover the purchase, authorisation to place in service, commissioning, and delivery.
The tender specifies a 2.7MW unit with starting tractive effort of at least 270kN and a maximum speed of at least 140km/h. The locomotives will be equipped with particulate filters and will comply with EU Stage 3B emission standards. They will be ETCS-ready and suitable for operation on lines with a D2 axleload.
The contract will include options for more locomotives, which might have to meet additional requirements.
