The APS certificate was presented to the CEO of Siemens Locomotives Mr Jürgen Wilder at InnoTrans by EBA president Mr Gerald Hörster and Mr Andreas Thomasch, EBA head of directorate, Rolling Stock and Operations.

Siemens says authorisation for Germany was performed completely in accordance with the "Memorandum of Understanding on the reorganisation of approval processes for rail vehicles" agreed between the German Federal Ministry of Transport, EBA and the German railway industry.

The Vectron DE had already received its EC certificate and meets the requirements of the Technical Specification for Interoperability (TSI) for vehicles of the trans-European conventional rail system (TSI CR LOC & PAS), which will be the basis for approval of the type in all EU Member States.

This certification covers the freight variants and Siemens says it hope to certify the passenger model next year.
