The framework agreement is for the supply of 12 shunting locomotives with an option to acquire up to six more in a contract worth €65m. The locomotives will be used to shunt trains providing maintenance for RATP’s regional railway network.

Manufacturing is expected to begin at CAF’s plant in Bagnères de Bigorre, France, in mid-2018 with the first unit being delivered in the first quarter of 2019.

The shunting locomotives, with a power range of 1000kW, are able to carry out autonomous maintenance activities.
