WABTEC has entered into a $US 190m agreement with PT Imeco Inter Sarana (PT Imeco) to supply spare parts and training to support maintenance of state railway PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s (PT KAI) 150-strong fleet of CM20EMP diesel-electric locomotives.

Wabtec will supply service kits and parts for the locomotives, designated class CC206 by PT KAI, along with overhaul kits to support local overhaul and remanufacturing activities in Indonesia.

The work will support the operator’s efforts to improve and expand its passenger and freight service.

Wabtec has been working with PT KAI for more than 70 years, providing technical services and parts to support over 350 Wabtec locomotives operated by PT KAI.

“This is a significant investment in our existing fleet and allows us to maintain our assets with reliable and quality parts supplied from the original manufacturer,” said PT KAI president director, Mr Didiek Hartantyo. “This deal continues our long successful partnership in working with Wabtec and their regional partner, Imeco.”

“This order demonstrates the value of our local Indonesian distributor relationship with PT Imeco and how Wabtec can tailor our service offerings to support our customer’s specific requirements,” says Wabtec’s president of global freight services, Ms Alicia Hammersmith. “This supply arrangement will support the Indonesian economy by ensuring reliable rail operations to move millions of passengers and tonnes of freight each year.”
