The Citadis LRVs will operate in pairs alongside the existing fleet of
Bombardier low-floors LRVs on the Zeytinburnu-Kabatas light rail line,
and will also replace high-floor vehicles on the Zeytinburnu-Bagcilar
light metro line. Each pair of LRVs will accommodate 500 passengers at
speeds of up to 70km/h.
The Citadis for Istanbul are the first
vehicles of this type to be fitted with Alstom's new pivoting Ixege
bogie, which is designed to improve ride quality on poor-quality track.
In addition to the LRVs for Istanbul, a fleet of seven Citadis Dualis
tram-trains equipped with Ixege bogies has been ordered by French
National Railways (SNCF).
