Tramwave provides power through a ground-level contact line
which is only activated when an LRV passes overhead. The system was designed
for Ansaldobreda’s Sirio trams, but is claimed to be so flexible that it can be
fitted to many designs of LRV, regardless of supplier, and even retro-fitted to
existing fleets.

It reduces the visual impact of catenary systems in
sensitive locations and returns current to the Tramwave system, eliminating the
effect of stray currents returned to the running rails, and is claimed to be
easy to install between the rails.

systems, see IRJ June, p20-24.
