BRITISH infrastructure manager Network Rail has awarded Balfour Beatty three trackwork contracts worth at least £133 million.
A four-year extension of Balfour Beatty's existing track renewal framework agreement to 2014 is worth around £56 million. A further £115 million extension could be awarded if targets are met within the first year of the contract, which covers plain line and switch renewals, together with associated signalling, electrification and drainage work, in NR's South East territory.

grinders.
Finally, Balfour Beatty has received a £27 million contract to build a
third running line between Gower Street Junction and Arkleston
Junction, together with the remodelling of approach lines, as part of
NR's Paisley Corridor project in Glasgow. Invensys Rail has also
announced that is has won a £48 million contract to replace
life-expired signalling between Shields and Paisley, including the
migration of train control to NR's new West of Scotland Signalling
Centre. The Paisley Corridor project will be completed in 2012.
