MoR says an increase in coal traffic has been a key driver of this
growth. After October 2008 coal dropped by more than 10% as industrial
demand slowed and electricity consumption fell. However, an increase in
industrial production since April has been mirrored by a recovery in
railborne coal volumes, which rose 1.9% in July, compared with July
2008. Increased volumes were also reported in construction and
metallurgical traffic last month.
