HITACHI has acquired the business activities related to Bombardier Transportation’s contribution to the V300 Zefiro very high-speed train from Alstom.

The transaction is part of the conditions set by the European Commission as part of Alstom’s acquisition of Bombardier Transportation in January.

Alstom says it will complete its obligations for existing rolling stock orders from Italian State Railways’ subsidiary Trenitalia and Spanish open access operator Ilsa.

Hitachi says the transaction will consolidate its commitment to the very high-speed rail market, especially Italy’s Frecciarossa 1000, and reinforces its service and maintenance capabilities.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022.

Last month Alstom agreed to divest its Coradia Polyvalent platform, its Reichshoffen production site in France and its Talent 3 platform, currently developed in Hennigsdorf, Germany, to CAF. This was also a divestment set by the European Commission as part of the Alstom acquisition of Bombardier Transportation.
