The 28-station line comprises a main route stretching from EstadioNueva Condomina to Plaza Circular and with a branch from Los Rectores
to Los Jerónimos in Guadalupe. Line 1 is expected to carry around
34,000 passengers per day and services are operated by a fleet of 11
Alstom Citadis 302 LRVs originally supplied to Madrid. The line is run
by Tranvía de Murcia, a joint venture of FCC Construction and
Comsa-Emte, which has the concession to build the line and operate it
for 40 years.
A 2km section of the line along Avienda Juan Carlos I in the city
centre has been in operation since 2007 on an experimental basis.
