RZD will charge $US 185 for a first-class ticket which will include a choice of hot meals, and $US 115 for a second-class ticket. Passengers travelling second class will be able to purchase food from the bistro car. Cheaper tickets will be available during the first week of operation to promote the service. Each train will have two first-class and eight second-class coaches.
RZD announces details of HS service
RUSSIAN Railways (RZD) has published the timetable and started selling tickets for the new high-speed service to be launched on December 18 between Moscow and St Petersburg, using the first of its Sapsan trains supplied by Siemens. There will be three trains a day departing at 06.45, 13.00 and 19.00 in each direction. The morning and evening trains will take 3h 45min, but the 13.00 departure will take 4h 15min for the 650km trip with trains running at a maximum of 250km/h.
