The tender is budgeted at around €167.8m and the contract includes eight years maintenance from the delivery of the first two locomotives 36 months after the contract is awarded. The remaining units will follow by month 40.

The 160km/h locomotives should use proven technologies. Mixing basic technologies from primary components such as bogies and traction systems from unproven sources is prohibited. The units should also be fitted with an obstacle deflector capable of separating snow from ERTMS and Asfa signalling equipment and GSM-R and Tren-Tierra telecommunications systems.
