The study, which has a budget of Koruna 20m ($US 885,765), will outline a possible route from Prague to the Czech-Polish border near Hradec Králové in the Giant Mountains. The study will also examine potential geographical barriers ias well as how the line will integrate with both the conventional network in Prague and Hradec Králové and a future high-speed network across the country

The line must connect with the  planned high-speed line from Wrocław to the Czech-Polish border. The new line will start in Prague Balabenka, a which is located between Prague main station and Prague Libeň station. The study will also take into account potential capacity problems on the conventional network in Prague, along with proposals to enhance capacity.

SŽ says the study must be completed within 18 months of the contract signing.
