Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) has placed a $US 110m order for 29 SD-160 LRVs to support the expansion of the city's LRT network. Deliveries will be completed in early 2018, taking Denver's fleet of SD-160s to more than 200 vehicles.
Minneapolis St Paul Metropolitan Council has exercised an option worth around $US 20m for five additional S70 LRVs , taking its fleet to 64 units.
All of the vehicles will be assembled at Siemens' Sacramento plant in California.
Last month Minneapolis St Paul Metropolitan Council issued a tender notice for 27 low-floor LRVs with options for up to 50 more vehicles, even though it still has options available for 45 more S70s.
