The first five vehicles are due to be delivered in June 2021. The contract also covers maintenance of the fleet for a period of 30 years.
The single-section LRVs will have a capacity of 110 passengers, and feature USB ports and power outlets, as well as digital passenger information systems.
The Trading House STM consortium was formed in December 2019 for the development and production of urban transport vehicles including LRVs and metro trains, and to expand STM and Skoda’s shared market in the Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS) countries.
The contract is one of two created following the division of the original tender, which called for 204 vehicles under a single contract valued at Roubles 31.9bn.
The second contract, for the supply of 114 low-floor LRVs between 2021 and 2022, is worth Roubles 22.15bn and was awarded to PK Transport Systems (PK TS) on September 9.
The contract covers the manufacture and supply of 40 single-section 71-911EM Lion class vehicles, and 74 low-floor three-section 71-931M Vityaz-Moscow class LRVs, as well as the provision of maintenance for 30 years.
The new orders follow the purchase of 300 low-floor 71-931M Knight class LRVs worth Roubles 56bn in September 2016 to a joint venture of Transmashholding subsidiary Metrowagonmash and PK Transport Systems, which were delivered between 2017 and 2019.
