The deal was finalised in the Berlin municipality of Schöneiche by representatives of both companies following a two-month trial period. This marked the first time the Škoda ForCity Smart Artic vehicles had operated in passenger traffic after receiving certification in Germany.
The ForCity Smart Artic Helsinki tram is based on an original idea of Helsinki City Transport (HKL) and has been developed in collaboration between HKL and Škoda Transtech.
