Network operator Stuttgart Tramways (SSB) will now request planning approval from Leinfelden-Echterdingen municipal council.
Construction is expected to begin on the €11.9m project in autumn 2020, with opening scheduled for the end of 2021. The extension will be served by 40m-long trains operating at 20-minute intervals.
A further extension to Echterdingen is proposed.
