HUNGARIAN operator MÁV-Start has announced that its direct Adria InterCity overnight service between Budapest and Split on the Adriatic coast of Croatia will run three times a week during the peak summer season.

The Adria InterCity will operate from June 10 to September 24, with three services each way operating during the high season from June 19 to August 29. In 2021 the Adria InterCity was used by over 5500 passengers.

Trains depart from Budapest at 18:45 and take 14 hours to cover the 789km to Split. Northbound Adria InterCity services depart Split at 18:27 and arrive in Budapest at 09:35 the next morning.

MÁV-Start says that onboard facilities for passengers should suit all budgets, and include a dining car serving hot evening meals and breakfast, as well as a wide range of drinks which can be enjoyed throughout the night.

Sleeping accommodation includes four and six-berth couchette compartments, as well as sleeping compartments for one, two or three passengers. All cabins are air-conditioned and equipped with power sockets.

Passengers receive a welcome pack in the evening, and a hot morning drink and breakfast is included in the ticket price. Sleeping car passengers can choose from a variety of breakfast dishes, also served in the dining car.

Single ticket prices start at €43 and €15 for children aged between six and 14. Pets and bicycles are not carried on the Adria Intercity.
