Luxembourg’s minister of sustainable development and infrastructure Mr François Bausch has held talks with the government of the German state of Rhineland Palatinate, German Rail (DB), CFL, and North Rhineland Palatinate Passenger Transport Authority (SPNV Nord) on the proposed service, which is expected to begin operating in December 2017.

CFL plans to use its dual voltage Stadler Kiss double-deck EMUs, which already operate into Germany on Luxembourg - Trier - Koblenz services. Each three-car train seats 284 passengers including 29 in first class.

Last year CFL exercised an option for 11 additional Kiss sets, including five trains for cross-border operation into Germany.
