The line will connect the airport, the third largest in Denmark, with the mainline network via Aalborg and Aarhus.

“We expect that structures such as bridges and railway dams will be completed by the end of 2019,” says Banedanmark construction director, Mr Steen Neuchs Vedel. “Then we start building the railway itself, which is expected to be ready for initiation by the end of 2020.”

The project includes the construction of a 180m-long platform at the airport, a bridge over the Lindholm Å river, which will be rerouted, and a new overbridge along the Thistedvej highway.

The line is expected to be ready by the end of 2020.

The European Union Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) allocated Denmark €500,000 from the TEN-T Programme in November 2014 to fund preliminary technical and environmental studies.
