The service to Hamburg Altona will run on Thursdays and Saturdays, departing from Frankfurt Main Station at 08.30, and returning south at 12.36 on Fridays and 16.36 on Sundays with a journey time of 6h 51min for the fastest trains. HKX will operate via the Rhine Valley line, serving Bingen, Koblenz and Bonn.
The trains will be formed of hired long-distance vehicles including compartment coaches, which HKX says are very popular with its customers. There will also be a first-class/baggage car to provide storage for pushchairs, wheelchairs, and bicycles.
