The contract calls for the operation of around 1.5 million train-km annually on the non-electrified Essen-Steele - Dorsten - Borken/Coesfeld route (Line RE14), which is already operated by NWB.
NWB will continue to use the existing fleet of Bombardier Talent DMUs, which are maintained at the operator’s depot in Dorsten.
