The contract will include electronic interlockings and automated train protection, supervision, and telecommunications systems.

The Yellow Line, currently under construction, will run between Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road and Bommasandra, serving 16 elevated stations. The project will support driverless operation when it opens in March 2022, with trains operating at 90 second headways.

The Yellow Line is part of the metro’s Phase 2 expansion programme, which will add two new lines with a combined length of 72.1km, expanding the network’s total length to 114.4km.

It follows the 42.3km Phase 1, which was completed in June 2017 and serves 450,000 passengers per day.
