The two underground sections are part of 45km first phase of the Chennai metro and their completion takes the total length of the network to 35.3km.
Chennai opens two metro extensions
CHENNAI opened extensions to both of its two operational metro lines on May 25, when Tamil Nadu chief minister, Mr Edappadi Palaniswami, and India’s minister of housing and urban affairs, Mr Hardeep Singh Puri, inaugurated the 2.6km Nehru Park – Central Station section of the Green Line and the 4.8km stretch of the Blue Line from Little Mount to AG-DMS.
