The 9km line runs south from an interchange with Line 4 at Shohada Square to Dolat Abad. At present the only operational intermediate station is at Besat, but six stations are under construction.
A further 15km stretch of Line 6 is expected to open by March 2020.
When all phases are completed, Line 6 will be 38km long with 27 stations, making it the longest metro line in Tehran.
The line will link Sulqan in the northwest with Shahr-e-Rey in the southeast, interchanging with lines 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7.
