Thales will install its SelTrac CBTC solution which includes moving-block signalling, free-space radio for data communication between train and wayside equipment, Thales' NetTrack MT central control system and a fully-automated depot.
Thales has already installed radio CBTC on the initial part of the line from Gangnam to Jeongja which began operating on October 28 2011. Three additional driverless trains will be added once the extension opens taking the fleet up to 15. The trains will operate at a maximum speed of 90km/h.
