The 80km/h trains will be assembled at Hyundai Rotem’s Changwon plant, with the final deliveries expected by 2020.

The order is part of the Korean city’s plan to replace its ageing train fleet and improve passenger comfort with features such as air purifiers and automatic lighting control.

Busan Transportation Corporation placed similar orders with Hyundai Rotem in 2013 and 2016 and currently has 496 cars in operation on the 40.4km Line 1.
