The contract will include 14 trains, signalling, electrification, switches and crossings, and platform screen doors for eight stations. The winning bidder will also maintain the train fleet.

The E&M component is being retendered after the current management of the metro rescinded its contract with Integration Monorail Consortium (CMI) following delays to the project. The consortium members were fined Reais 88m ($US 23.4m) and disqualified from bidding for new contracts with the state of São Paulo for a period of two years.

Civil works were also included in the scope of CMI’s contract. A new tender for civil works was issued at the end of May and the procurement is due to be completed in the current semester.

Most other construction works on the line are within the scope of the stations contract.
