Local politicians and representatives from universities in Siegen and Aachen attended the ceremony along with Mr Pierre Beaudoin, Bombardier's president and CEO, and Mr André Navarri, the president and COO of Bombardier Transportation.

The site will house Bombardier's new bogie headquarters, its new Bogie Technical Centre, a final assembly area, wheelset and crash repair and overhaul centres. Experts from the company will also continue the development and testing of the company's Flexx bogie portfolio to meet certification requirements at the new site.

"Bogies are a core component of Bombardier and play a crucial role in all our rail vehicles," Navarri says. "The Bogie Technical Centre will create the perfect environment for innovation, allowing Bombardier to test innovative ideas and strengthen its future competitiveness."
