The 140km/h vehicles will be equipped to operate under Germany’s 15kV 16.7Hz ac electrification system and a diesel engine. They will also be fitted with batteries to enable up to two hours of catenary-free electric operation. The fleet will also be equipped with ETCS.
The initial batch of 16 vehicles will be delivered in 2022, with a further seven vehicles expected to follow two years later.
