THE outbreak of war between Israel and Gaza has resulted in a reduction of mainline rail, light rail and bus services across Israel.

The line between Be'er Sheva and Ashkelon is closed but alternative rail services to Tel Aviv are being provided vis Kiryat-Gat. However, the Ashkelon - Binyamina line remains open.

The following stations are closed until further notice: Kiryat-Hayim, Haifa Merkazit Ha-Mifratz, Holon Junction, Bat-Yam Komemi'yut, Carmiel, Achihud, Beit-She'an, Afula, Kfar-Baruch, Kfar-Yehoshua, Hod Ha-Sharon Sokolov, Ra'anana South, Rishon LeZion Harishonim, Modi'in Outskirts, Beit-Shemesh, Lod Ganei-Aviv, Ramla, Mazkeret-Batya, Yave-East, Kiryat-Gat, Be'er Sheva North/University and Dimona.

The A1 Link between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is continuing to operate for now, and train frequency is limited to hourly intervals on all other lines.

Israel Railways says it is trying to provide replacement bus services where lines and stations are closed, but many buses have been requisitioned to transport troops, which is making this difficult and affecting scheduled bus services.

Light rail services on the Tel Aviv Red Line are operating with much longer intervals.
