The centre remotely monitors the technical performance of Alstom trains in real time and was established to support predictive maintenance of train fleets across Italy.
The control room was tested for a year using Trenitalia's fleet of Minuetto multiple units and now monitors a total of around 250 trains, including Coradia Meridian EMUs operated by Trenitalia and North Milan Railways (Malpensa Express).
During the test phase around 500 maintenance orders were sent to the 22 Alstom workshops, and compared with traditional systems the number of erroneous maintenance orders has been cut from 20% to 3%.
